Pattern lovers, rejoice! New York–based designer Madeline Weinrib—celebrated for her vibrant collection of artisanally crafted carpets, pillows, and textiles—has gone bicoastal. This month the home furnishings maven opened the doors to a 4,000-square-foot showroom in the San Francisco Design Center, marking the brand’s first standalone location outside of Manhattan. Open to both trade and retail clients, the stylishly appointed outpost will serve as the premier West Coast destination for the firm’s coveted carpets and bold fabrics, accessories, and home accents.
When it came to designing the showroom, Weinrib drew inspiration from her background as an artist, and the space has a gallery-like feel to it. (An established painter, she exhibited regularly throughout the 1990s and taught drawing at the City University of New York before designing her first line of carpets in 1997.) Large glass chandeliers hang from the double-height ceilings, and a soft shade of white was chosen for the walls, a suitable canvas for the vibrant and richly textured wares. And as a testament to the designer’s attention to detail, the honey-color hardwood floors are laid in different geometric patterns throughout.
In addition to the Madeline Weinrib core lines, the new showroom offers bespoke services and the opportunity to view exclusive collections previously available only in New York, as well as the designer's expanding repertoire of evening bags, caftans, and limited-edition vintage furniture.
